‘A big percentage of the people in Port Douglas are on holiday. It takes away the rat race feeling, it calms everything down.

‘When you knock off from work at the end of the day it also feels like you’re on holiday, being in the tropics with warm breezes and plenty of restaurants and bars with something always happening.

‘The most rewarding aspect of my job is helping people to get where they want to be as quickly and smoothly as possible. I am helping people achieve where they want to be, and I will do the absolute best I can to achieve that.’

OBrien family

Ms Chamberlain first started out in real estate in New Zealand as a Client Service’s Manager, inspired and trained by her late father, one of NZ’s top Country Sales Agents.

‘I worked alongside him the last five years of his career. I then worked for Ray White under Mark Flinn as sales admin who taught me so much about Port Douglas and how the ropes work here.

‘When COVID hit, I had a bit of time off. That’s when I met Daniel and Monique. I knew from the day I met them I wanted to be a part of their team. They made me realise my potential, to embrace change and that I had an OBrien family to support me.’

OBrien from the ground up

OBrien Real Estate was founded by Dean OBrien and Darren Hutchins late 2010 in Berwick, South East Melbourne.

Director, Daniel Arnott, of OBrien Real Estate Cairns & Beaches started his Real Estate Career at the beginning of 2011 with the company.

Fast forward 10 years Daniel and his family relocated from Melbourne to Cairns and opened OBrien Real Estates 30th office and the only one out of Victoria.

The office is strategically located in Clifton Beach shopping centre, with a multitude of buyers walking in each week.

High demand

According to Ms Chamberlain, sixty percent of homeowners in Port Douglas are from Victoria. ‘These people are the majority of our buyers from Melbourne which we have access to a client base with in-excess of 300,000 clients between our Cairns office and 29 offices in Victoria. This creates a huge amount of synergy.

‘There is a high demand of people wanting to buy in Port Douglas. I am currently selling more than I am listing and at premium prices. To keep up with the current demand of buyers is tough, we are working best with our clients to give them both the best outcomes possible.

‘What we are also seeing is an exceptional growth from forced emotional change caused by the current
pandemic. People are choosing family and life and are getting out of the big cities. They are able to work remotely where they can shift to pumping equity into their backyard with Tropical North Queensland being the perfect place.’
