Labelled ‘our dance family’, Bodies in Motion Dance School came of age at the weekend when they celebrated their 21st anniversary in style at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort.

The school, which consists of 300 performers aged from two to 85, hosted three shows over two days to more than 1,100 local audience members.

Titled “A Moment in Time” – the end-of-year production – was a huge success, marking their sixth year in a row of sell-out audiences.

Principal Saskia Turner said it was an amazing experience for her students and was very well received by everyone.

“We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback. Everyone was blown away by the standard of professionalism of the show,” she said.

The story line followed three young children who set off on an adventure to the local museum. 

There, they accidentally knocked over an antique pocket watch which transported them back in time. In an attempt to get home, they travelled through each decade and re-lived some of the most iconic songs of all time.

“We were able to include music from some of the greats: MJ, Madonna, Elvis, The Beatles, Spice Girls, ABBA and more. It was such a fantastic weekend and we are still on a high from it all,” said Turner.

Bodies in Motion is a supportive and encouraging network, creating opportunities for both students and parents to make lifelong friendships.

They are proud to be the largest group in the Douglas Shire. The 300+ students that walk through its studio doors each week are proof that dancing really does benefit the lives of many.
