Entsch fends off Faith to retain seat
Long serving member

Elida Faith’s campaign to be the first female elect to hold the seat of Leichhardt has been dashed after conceding to rival Warren Entsch for the second time in as many campaigns.
Heavily tipped to go close to claiming the seat from the long serving member Ms Faith called Mr Entsch a short time ago to congratulate him on his tight victory.
“I have got nothing but respect for Elida and her team and I wish them all the very best,” a jubilant Mr Entsch told his supporters following the result.
“I would also like to thank my fantastic staff, my amazing volunteers and my beautiful family for their unwavering support over the past six weeks.
“But most of all I want to thank Leichhardt residents who also put their trust in me. I won’t let you down.”
Mr Entsch’s win wasn’t without a few anxious moments though as Ms Faith challenged the returning member all the way to the end.
At the completion of 33.4% of the vote being counted just 371 votes separated the two main Leichhardt candidates, with Mr Entsch on 13,554 votes and Ms Faith with 13,183.
However as counting continued Mr Entsch slowly increased his lead to more than 2000 votes, after 66.4% of local votes counted had been counted.
From there it was inevitable as Mr Entsch went on to retain the seat.
