Port Douglas junior Crocs club is a previous recipient of a Salsa Sorensen grant.

The Salsa Sorensen Association has opened submissions for local groups and charities to apply for handy financial assistance to help with potential projects or much needed purchases.

This year the Association has generous grants ranging from $300 - $3000 on offer, with applications open until July 31.

Successful applicants will receive their cheques at a presentation following the Brian Sorensen golf day on Sunday, August 21.

Team nominations for the golf day are open with $20,000 on offer for a hole in one on the day.

“If you or your club, group, or charity have a project of up to $3000 that you need funding for, head to the website to see if you're eligible at salsasorensen.com,” Salsa Sorensen Association president Jennifer Sorensen told Newsport.

Some previous grant recipients include local volunteer lifeguards Tropical Animal Rehabilitation Centre, Marine Rescue Douglas Shire Inc, Daintree State School P&C Association, Douglas Shire Historical Association, Port Douglas Junior Crocs, Mossman Pony Club and GBR Legacy.
