ELDERLY patients looking to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air will have a new area to enjoy in-between their rest and recovery thanks to the tireless efforts and generosity of Mossman Rotary Club.

A short time ago the local chapter presented Mossman Hospital with a $20,000 cheque, which will go directly towards the construction and restoration of a small recreation area behind the hospital and close to the nurse’s carpark.

When completed patients will be able to sit and soak up the sun and spend time with family and friends on chairs within the newly restored area.

“We really like contributing to our local community and this is another chance to make a difference and make things that little bit more comfortable for those at the hospital,” Mossman Rotary president Roby Kessler told Newsport.

“We raised the money quite a few years ago now and it’s been sitting there for the right project and we feel this is the ideal project to really support because it has so many long-term benefits.”

Mossman Rotary Club was established in 1955 and has regularly fundraised to support local projects and events.
