ABC Snorkel Charters thrilled at win

A Douglas tourism business has every right to be proud and thrilled – it has won a prestigious top rating from international travel company Tripadvisor.

ABC Snorkel Charters in Port Douglas said it was truly humbled to hear that it had been named Tripadvisor’s ‘Number One Australian Tourism Experience’, in the 2022 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards.

Not only did the locally owned and operated Great Barrier Reef tour score Australia’s top place, they were also named number one in the South Pacific region and 23rd in the world. The recognition places them in the top one per cent of Tripadvisor’s experiences in the world.

Owner operator Jay Wink is said he and his staff were thrilled at the achievement, having started the business from scratch just over a decade ago, and working tirelessly since then, to deliver first class reef experiences for his guests.

“We’ve always strived to exceed our customers’ expectations,” Mr Wink said.

“We keep our numbers small, but our experience big, hand-picking our team to ensure they all share our customer first values.

“To be named in the top one per cent of Tripadvisor experiences in the world and coming in at number one in Australia and the South Pacific region is amazing recognition, of all our work,” he said. “It’s especially rewarding following what has obviously been extremely difficult times during the pandemic.”

“We love what we do, showcasing the amazing Great Barrier Reef to guests from around our region, the state, country and now once again, the rest of the world.”

Kate Urquhart, General Manager Experiences at Tripadvisor, congratulated ABC Snorkel Charters: “We hear from travellers year-round that the experiences and activities found on Tripadvisor are the highlights of their trips.

“Travellers who love nature and wildlife will enjoy this snorkelling tour of the outer Great Barrier Reef. In small groups, guests get one instructor for every six participants, ensuring personalised service.”
