Douglas Shire to rally behind favourite daughter
FUNDRAISER

Just weeks’ out from Christmas the Douglas Shire has been encouraged to show its famed generosity and kindness as it again rallies behind one of its favourite daughters.
Local teenager Gemma Kilpatrick was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer in late August and started treatment in Cairns just days’ later to kick cancer.
Since then the Lady Douglas Cruises employee has undergone months of rigorous treatment.
As Gem continues her battle an auction fundraiser has been organised at Hemingway’s this Saturday from 2.30pm to assist with Gem’s ongoing treatment along with medical and living expenses.
Local Douglas Shire businesses such as Hemingway’s Brewery, Quicksilver, Lady Douglas, Wicked Willie’s, Salsa Bar and Grill, With Sugar, Shaolin and Daintree Magic have all made contributions to this weekend’s event.
Those businesses still wanting to donate or contribute are invited to contact Lauren Gratas on the event’s Facebook page.
Thank you!
