Wildlife Habitat prepares to ‘wow’ visitors with new additions
BUSINESS FEATURE

As the high season draws near, the Wildlife Habitat is preparing to dazzle visitors with an array of recent and long-standing enhancements.
Among these upgrades, the new multimillion dollar exhibit, CrocArena, featuring the exhilarating 'Swim with the Salties' experience stands out as the crown jewel.
This highly anticipated attraction launched in September 2021 and is a major draw for visitors seeking a thrilling adventure.

According to Sybella Salter, assistant manager at Wildlife Habitat, this heart-stopping swim encounter is a one-of-a-kind experience on the East Coast of Australia.
“The experience provides guests with a rare opportunity to witness the bone-crushing power of these apex predators up close and personal,” Ms Salter said.
On top of this, the beloved 'Breakfast with the Birds' has returned after the COVID hiatus, now featuring a more intimate and personalised experience with limited daily seating that includes feeding koalas and birds.
Furthermore, a new Nocturnal Habitat has been built at the park in recent years, offering a glimpse into the elusive nighttime activities of the vast array of mammal species that call the Wet Tropics home.
“Given that the region is home to approximately one-third of Australia's mammal species, this new attraction provides an exciting opportunity to observe and learn about these fascinating creatures,” Ms Salter added.
Conservation connections
The park's team is committed to providing exceptional wildlife interactions, be it through daily presentations or additional experiences such as Breakfast with the Birds and Swim with the Salties.
“These encounters aim to inspire visitors to form conservation connections and integrate these unforgettable moments into their daily practices,” Ms Salter explained.
She emphasised that the park also takes great care in minimising its environmental impact. “As a locally owned and operated company, Wildlife Habitat recognises the crucial role of conservation in preserving one of the world's most delicate ecosystems.
“The revamped 'Breakfast with the Birds' experience is a prime example of Wildlife Habitat's commitment to promoting meaningful conservation connections among its visitors.
“These unique and enriching encounters encourage visitors to appreciate and understand the importance of wildlife conservation, and to take proactive steps towards protecting our natural environment.”
Mental Health Month
Wildlife Habitat's popular "mental health month" deal for Douglas Shire tourism and hospitality workers will soon be returning.
The promotion, which offers free entry to local industry workers (proof of employment required), was first launched in November-December 2022 and is set to run again in May-June of this year.
“The deal provides an opportunity for hardworking industry peers to take a break and enjoy a day of relaxation with the park's wildlife, before the busy season kicks off,” Ms Salter said.
“Those interested in taking advantage of the offer are encouraged to stay tuned to the park's social media pages for more information on the promotion's start date.”
