Department of Environment and Science (DES) wildlife officers have found and euthanised two crocodiles (4.1m and 2.8m) in relation to a Laura fisherman who went missing on the banks of the Kennedy River on Saturday afternoon.

QPS and DES confirmed they intend to conduct a necropsy on the two crocodiles this afternoon – afterwards Police confirmed they will then prepare a report for the Coroner.

DES confirmed that under the Queensland Crocodile Management Plan, “problem crocodiles are removed from the wild”.

Cairns Country North Patrol Group Inspector Mark Henderson and Manager of Wildlife Operations Mike Joyce are set to hold a press conference in relation to the matter at 1.15pm this afternoon.
