MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS: Bailey Seamer will pass through Port Douglas today on her walking odyssey to Cape York
LONG WALK

A woman with a big heart and a drive to increase conversations around mental health awareness will continue her walking odyssey to the tip of Austalia but not before checking into Port Douglas today
Last night Newcastle woman Bailey Seamer spent the night at Ellis beach and was expected to arrive in Port Douglas sometime this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
Seamer has already trekked 5500km since leaving Wilsons Promontory on May 18, 2022 and traversing along the eastern coastline of Australia on her mission to Cape York.
“This large-scale trek is motivated to join the growing movement and conversations around mental health awareness, with the intention of raising funds for the Black Dog Institute and their ongoing commitment to research, resources, and services,” Bailey told Newsport.
“My ambitious goal of walking the East Coast of Australia stems from my own personal journey living with bipolar disorder.
“Through adaptation, management and substantial amount of love and support, I have developed tools for mental health with hiking & connecting with nature being a major component.”
Hey Bailey, welcome to the Far North and in particular our paradise that is, Port Douglas. If you see Bailey make sure you say hello!
Thank you!
