MAJOR GONG

Iconic Port Douglas restaurant Salsa has again been recognised for industry excellence after claiming the prestigious restaurant of the year award at the Savour Australia restaurant and caterers function in Brisbane last night.
Salsa claimed the award in the North QLD and NT section, while they also won the best contemporary restaurant award as well.
Salsa first claimed the same award way back in 1998.
“This is a really special award for us,” Bill Conway from Salsa said.
“To still be in the league to win and actually winning today is a testament to the foundation upon which Salsa has been built.
“I am absolutely thrilled. The recognition this gives to our dedicated team for their consistent hard work each and every day is appreciated.
“Special thanks to our suppliers and loyal patrons for their unwavering support.”
It proved a great night for Port Douglas with a number of other outlets also claiming success.
Seabean Tapas bar and restaurant won best specialty restaurant, while Harrisons picked up the best restaurant in a hotel award. Tha Fish also won best seafood restaurant.
