Douglas Shire residents travelling to and leaving Cairns over the next few hours will come across and face heavy delays in the North area of the city this afternoon.

just moments ago The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advised motorists “the Captain Cook Highway has been reduced to one lane due to emergency water main repairs north of Clifton Beach.

“Expect long delays.”

Please plan your after plans accordingly if needing to pass through this  area over the next few hours.

UPDATE 3.32PM, 25/8

TMR has advised both lanes on the Captain Cook Highway north of Clifton Beach are now open.
