The ever-popular Reef to Reef mountain bike event may already be over for another year but a proud community member has contacted Newsport to highlight some of the achievements of local riders during the four-stage event.

In a glowing endorsement of the local mountain bike talent that exists within the Shire, Newsport can confirm Carie Kelliher placed first in the female masters solo category, Mark Hardy gained third in the male great grand masters solo, Daniel Inglis came in eighth in the open male solo and George Almanza finished in eighth spot in the open male pairs.

“We would also like to make a special mention to Rod Johnson and the team at Bike Shop and Hire for all their support before, during and after the race,” local competitor Daniel Inglis told Newsport.

“In particular we want to acknowledge and give thanks for their mechanical support in between stages and for having our bikes in top shape.

“We couldn't have made it without them.”

Thank you!
