Tourism Port Douglas Daintree (TPDD) is on the hunt for its next leader to champion the magnificence and rich beauty of the Douglas Shire after the resignation of a key local tourism figure.

TPDD's Tara Bennett, the long time face of the local tourism industry will join TTNQ early next year as general manager of partnerships and events.

She'll replace Rosie Douglas who is stepping away to pursue other endeavours.

Tourism Port Douglas Daintree Cam Charlton acknowledged Ms Bennett's endless contribution to the Douglas Shire region.

"The TPDD Board would like to take this opportunity to express sincere thanks and appreciation to our departing CEO," he said.

“Tara’s leadership, extensive commitment and contribution to TPDD and our destination during tumultuous times has been simply outstanding."

Ms Bennett said it was a difficult decision to step down from the position she has held for close to a decade.

“I have been incredibly fortunate to hold what I consider the best job in the world," Ms Bennett remarked.

"However, after nine incredibly rewarding years leading TPDD, I believe it is the perfect time for a new leader who will guide the organisation into 2024 and beyond."
