APPOINTMENT: Tourism Port Douglas Daintree secures new CEO
LEADER

Tourism Port Douglas Daintree has appointed Glen Hingley as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Hingley replaces former boss Tara Bennett and brings a wealth of experience and strong record of success to the leadership role.
Throughout his career, he has successfully operated communications firms, event and travel management businesses and founded and managed Asian Tourism Resources, a leading tourism communications consultancy based in Shanghai.
Familiar with the northern Australian visitor economy, Glen’s most recent roles were with Northern Territory Major Events Company and Tourism Top End.
As general manager of the peak industry body Tourism Top End, Hingley led the organisation in supporting members and the region’s visitor economy, ensuring collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies and Traditional Owners groups.
During his tenure, he played a strategic role in leading the Territory’s tourism industry through Covid 19 and advocated tirelessly for the sustainable visitor economy outcomes, including investment for Kakadu National Park.
Hingley said he was looking forward to joining Tourism Port Douglas Daintree.
"I am really looking forward to being part of one of the premier tourism destinations in Australia and working closely with our tourism industry as we seek to further the great work undertaken over many years," Mr Hingley said.
“Now, having achieved formal accreditation as Australia’s first eco-tourism destination, the Port Douglas and Daintree region is strategically poised to continue its sustainable development of the visitor economy."
Tourism Port Douglas Daintree chair Cam Charlton is excited by the appointment.
“Glen’s wealth of experience and proven leadership skills make him the ideal choice to guide us into the next phase of growth and sustainability," he said.
Hingley starts the role on November 27.
