A long term familiar face at Mossman High School has once again exemplified the generous nature of Douglas Shire residents after coming up with a way to deliver much needed items to those in need following last December’s cyclone and flood events.

Mossman High School’s Scott Young has taught English, maths, and Agriculture for more than 18 years and recently decided to contact a host of Port Douglas resorts and hotels to see if they’d each be kind enough to donate items that he could later distribute to a range of First Nation families in Mossman who could benefit from such generosity.

The response was instantly overwhelming with the Sheraton, Niramaya, Mantra Port Sea, Peppers and Oaks all immediately donating to the worthy cause.

So far Scott has personally delivered between 10-30 families a range of donated goods such as sofa beds, mattresses, frozen food products, sheets and bedding items.

“I’m very thankful the resorts got behind the idea and so kindly donated items to assist Mossman families’ in need, following last year’s cyclone and flood events,” Scott said.

“Thank you so much to each and every resort, hotel who so kindly donated some goods.”
