Douglas Shire motorists reminded to plan accordingly ahead of all day, Captain Cook Highway closure on June 16 due to IRONMAN
CAPTAIN COOK CLOSURE

Douglas Shire motorists have been reminded to plan accordingly ahead of a full closure to the Captain Cook Highway on Sunday, June 16 due to the upcoming Cairns Ironman event.
Cairns Ironman personnel told Newsport the Highway will remain closed from 5.30am – 5.30pm to cater for the cycling leg of the event.
“We urge you to familiarise yourself with the road closures and plan your journey ahead of time to avoid being caught out on the day,” an event spokesperson told Newsport.
“Leaving earlier and allowing for additional travel time will also assist in avoiding potential delays.”
There will also be a host of road closures throughout Cairns, including those needing to access the airport, so Newsport readers are encouraged to plan accordingly.
