Search operation continues for missing fisherman, man stable after Tolga shooting

A search operation continues this morning in a bid to locate a man who disappeared after falling into the Annan River while fishing near Cooktown on Saturday afternoon.
Police confirmed Emergency services were consequently called to the Annan River Bridge at approximately 2.10pm, following reports a 40-year-old man from New South Wales may had been taken by a crocodile.
Queensland Police continue to work alongside the Department of Environment and Science (DES) Wildlife Officers, who are assisting with the search.
Meantime, in other Police matters a man continues to recover in Cairns Hospital after being allegedly shot by Police in Tolga, in the Atherton Tablelands yesterday.
Police were called to bushland on Northey Road shortly after 1pm following reports the man was armed with a bladed object.
A short time later Police said the man then approached Officers while holding the object, and soon afterwards he was allegedly shot in the abdomen.
He was then flown to Cairns Hospital and remains in a stable condition.
This matter is being investigation by the Ethical Standards Command with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
