In the lively atmosphere of Kubirri Aged Care Centre, excitement filled the air as staff and residents embraced the Olympic spirit over the past few weeks with the Centre even launching its own version of Olympic events.
Every day, the prestigious Olympic Games lit up the big televisions in the Centre’s lounge rooms, captivating residents and igniting their enthusiasm.
The residents have particularly enjoyed watching tennis and swimming. However, the Centre’s Lifestyle Coordinator, Maria, noted that any game with Australians competing in them was popular at the Centre, with residents more than eager to give them a cheer.
The spirit of the Olympics extends beyond just watching the games. The Centre has launched its own version of Olympic events, bringing a range of engaging activities to life. From ‘balloon tennis’ to basketball, indoor bowls, and Hookey, these activities have proven to be a great source of enjoyment for residents.
To encourage everyone to join in the fun, participation prizes such as cups and flowers were offered, adding an extra layer of excitement. “The highlight of our very own Olympics seems to be the socialising and the fun memories that our residents create together,” Maria said. It’s clear that these activities provide not only competition but also valuable opportunities for connection and laughter.
