Hampers set to brighten up Christmas

Most people have heard of the 12 days of Christmas, but what about the 12 Christmas hamper packers?
A dozen international seasonal workers volunteered last weekend to pack Christmas hampers for hundreds of Far North Queensland families.
They joined members of the Cairns Salvation Army church to pack 300 care packages for those in need.
The extra help meant the Salvos could get the packages together in record time as Christmas approaches.
The group from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu is working on farms in the region as part of the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme.
PALM worker Benard Aquila thanked the Salvation Army for its warm welcome.
“We’re looking forward to being a part of the program anytime.”
After making friends on the weekend, the PALM workers were invited to perform in the band during Salvation Army Church services in Tolga.
The group has also been invited to join the Christmas Day church service and Christmas lunch on Christmas Day in Tolga.
