The Mossman Sharks Under-9s rugby league players have had an experience they will never forget, playing a game before the Cowboys’ NRL game in Townsville on the weekend.

Described by club officials as an “unforgettable experience”, the baby sharks fronted up against Herbert River Crushers in front of close to 20,000 fans before the North Queensland Cowboys’ clash with reigning premiers Penrith.

“It was an incredible day for our young players to showcase their skills on the big stage and create memories that will last a lifetime,” a club statement reads.

“Well done to all our junior sharks who showed fantastic sportsmanship and did our club proud!”

The young outfit got to play before one of the games of the year, with extra time not even able to separate the two sides, with the eventual score in the main game 30-30.

The Mossman juniors also managed to score at least one try in their curtain-raiser against the Crushers.
