Suspicious Mareeba fires trigger call for witnesses
Police News

Mareeba police are on the hunt for whoever may have lit a trio of suspicious fires last Saturday.
Emergency services were called to a Walsh Street, Mareeba, home at about 7am on Saturday, May 10, where they found a mattress on fire in the yard.
The blaze was put out with no injuries.
Then, at 7.30am, emergency services responded to a house fire on Couper Street, where the sole occupant sustained minor injuries.
And, about the same time, a small fire was lit in scrubland near lower Byrnes Street, which was quickly put out by an unidentified man in a white ute.
Tablelands detectives are appealing for anyone who was travelling on Byrnes, Couper and Walsh streets between 6.50am and 7.30am with dashcam footage, or anyone else who may have seen suspicious behaviour, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestoppersqld.com.au.
