Police have confirmed an abandoned red tractor just south of Wonga Beach with a bright yellow police notice on it is not the one an escaped Lotus Glen prisoner drove last week.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said this morning the broken-down tractor belonged to a local farmer.

A reader yesterday spotted the farm vehicle between the beach and the main road - prisoner Michael Graeme Rennie, 43, escaped from Lotus Glen Low Custody Correctional Centre near Mareeba on Sunday, June 1, on a similar-looking red Massey tractor.

Rennie, who is serving about six years for offences involving assault, theft, drugs and weapons, remains on the run.

He is described as 174cm tall, 56kg, lightly built, with a fair complexion, fair hair and blue eyes.

Rennie has a number of distinctive markings on his body including multiple dog bites and scars on his left arm.

He also has a range of tattoos including a gun on his left shoulder, a dragon and skull on his right shoulder and a clown with a gun on his left ribs.

Police have warned people not to approach him, as he may be dangerous.

A photo of a red Massey tractor with an attached front bucket similar to the one Rennie was last seen driving was released last week.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersqld.com.au.
