PHOTO GALLERY: Village parties in the streets for Daintree Festival

Daintree Village came to life on the weekend with a festival to help mark the opening of the CREB Track off-road trail.
The 70km road reopening marked the beginning of the tourism season, and was celebrated by the first Daintree Festival in more than 20 years.
The street party along a partially closed Stewart Street in the Village on Sunday was a hit, with an estimated close to 1000 tourists and locals turning up.
Local band Poundcake was well received and cane-toad racing at the Daintree Riverview Lodges also proved popular.
About a dozen market stalls set up along the street from 8am, while the pub and cafe did a range of food for attendees.
Organisers are hoping the festival will once again become an annual event.
Newsport photographer Byron Filmer was there to record all the action.
