They already gone up and are more expensive that other places that actually offer plenty to do.

Why’s everyone complaining, you voted them in.

Gordon Smith

How about you just double air b&b and leave the rest alone?

Susie Jeanette

Why was it all decided behind closed doors? Council is supposed to consult and represent the community.

Monica Scomazzon

Thanks to all who wanted the splash Park.

Emily Beutel

Wonder if that means our street will finally get the basic drainage required so our houses don't flood in wet season?

Philip Wren

That splash park is the biggest waste of money the town has seen. Should have been a small lagoon with couple cafe shop incorporated with it on the inlet side. No brainer. Just wasted rate money with terrible planning Just bad.

BOOM time for Port Douglas

Excellent news. Hope it stays ‘til end of the year.

Boom Time? This is the quietest season I have ever seen.

Chrissy Geyer

The season is getting shorter and shorter. This is not sustainable. Amenities at all hotels and resorts are becoming increasingly sparse. Australia's middle class (the ones who spend the money) are fast becoming Australia's poor. Things need to change if this town is to survive.

Geoff Mark Field

Chrissy Geyer good on you for speaking up. There seems to be a culture among some of sticking their head in the sand and pretending everything is fine. Ignoring problems won’t make them go away.

Tom Patts

As the town dwindles with lack of rentals and attractions and any new developments we are just becoming a retirement village for the well heeled. Funny thing is with no service staff they'll fast regret stopping developmental milestones.

Big job that has to be done safely for everyone, these jobs are almost impossible to quote there's a lot of variables and sharing the job site with the public slows down the work, that's more to the point a lot of red tape.

A whole lot of pigs with their noses in the trough here. Reminds me off the Mossman mill money from a few years ago that just vanished.

Jeff Read

And that's just for the traffic controllers The boys built the karanda railway line faster and cheaper.

Neil Jabs

What a sham! I attended a meeting in Port Douglas a few months ago and TMR said they had enough money to fix this road. I questioned the reason it took 13 months to even start the work on the road and was it lack of funds? They informed me and the meeting that it was not the case. It appears that a lack of funds both federal and state is why this is now taking until mid 2027 to complete. Heck just the road controllers costing is $27,000 per day without any work. And government and tourism group want to throw millions at the Wangetti trail which has so far proven to fail and will never withstand steep mountain sides in a high tropical rainforest environment. Can someone with common sense, logic and integrity make some priority spending here with our tax payers money please. Strange that a lot of other roads around the whole of Australia also appear to have funding issues??

Maureen Fraser

Just put a sky road (like the one south of royal national park NSW) from Wangetti to the slow down corner south of Mowbray River. That way the Rex lookout can be a tourist drive and much safer for them....and the main part of the road would be free from falling rocks and landslides.
