Car crashes into Port Douglas shops after driver steps on the wrong pedal
Shire Transport

A car has ploughed into the block of shops next to the Port Douglas Road and Barrier Street roundabout, taking out a set of wooden beams that hold up the roof in front of the businesses.
Witnesses said the person behind the wheel was a rental-car driver who was not used to the vehicle and pressed the wrong pedal, ramming into the Port Douglas Accommodation home rental agency in between the Property Shop real estate business and the Four Mile Seafood and Takeaway fish and chip shop.
A pair of people who work in the block of shops said they were lucky to escape injury after moving away from their desks just minutes before the accident happened at about 5pm yesterday (Sunday, July 13).
Nobody was hurt in the incident and the power has been disabled to some of the businesses.
