Four Mile Beach Park is a popular location with travelling visitors.

**WARNING, EXPLICIT LANGUAGE**

A man has been filmed yelling expletive-laden threats including “I’m gonna f**king kill you”, “I’m gonna rip your f**king heart out” and “run you f**king dog c***ts” at people parked in campervans at Four Mile Beach Park before attacking a stationary car with a blunt weapon, smashing windows and causing other damage.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson this week confirmed it was investigating an incident at Four Mile Beach Park in Port Douglas which took place on Thursday, June 26, while a video of the incident allegedly filmed on the same date has been handed to Newsport.

“Initial information indicates at around 11.20pm, an unknown man approached two people inside a vehicle and became involved in a verbal altercation,” police said.

“The man has then hit one of the occupants in the vehicle, before causing damage to the vehicle and fleeing on foot.”

The video shows the unknown man screaming expletive-laden threats at people in cars, with onlookers screaming back at him to leave them alone.

“What’s going on?” a man is heard yelling repeatedly in the video.

Backpackers and other people are known to camp overnight at the park on occasion, which has sometimes caused friction with other park users.

Douglas Shire Council states visitors are “only permitted in licensed caravan parks or camping grounds” in order “to help protect our unique environments”.

“Camping in unauthorised areas may result in a friendly warning or issue of a fine by Council officers who regularly inspect beaches, parks and council reserves throughout the region,” a DSC statement reads.

The issue of people sleeping rough across Queensland has worsened in recent years with rising home and rent prices - a host of councils are reporting increasing numbers across the state.

On top of that, affordable accommodation in the Port Douglas region, including caravan parks and backpacker hostels, has been fully booked across the past month.

Police investigations are continuing, and anyone with relevant information or vision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersqld.com.au.
