POLICE NEWS: Teenagers charged with more than 50 burglary-related offences

A trio of teenage boys have been charged with 55 burglary-related offences allegedly committed in Atherton and Mareeba between Thursday, July 24, and Tuesday, July 29.

On the evening of July 24, three people entered an Atherton home through an attached garage before leaving and returning hours later.

On a second visit, they were startled by residents and ran from the scene.

On Sunday, July 27, a 15-year-old Mareeba boy was arrested at a home and charged with 21 offences including seven counts of entering a home with the intent to commit a crime, five counts of unlawful use of a car and three counts of entering premises with the intent to commit a crime.

He is due to appear at the Mareeba Childrens Court on Monday, August 18.

At about 2.50pm on Tuesday, July 29, police arrested two 14-year-old Mareeba boys at a home.

One of those boys is facing 19 charges including five counts of entering a home with the intent to commit a crime, three counts of unlawful use of a car and two counts of entering premises with the intent to commit a crime.

He was due to appear at the Mareeba Childrens Court today (Wednesday, July 30).

The other 14-year-old was charged with 15 property offences including five counts of entering premises with the intent to commit a crime and two counts each of entering a home with intent, entering a home with the intent to commit a crime, unlawful use of a vehicle and entering premises with intent.

He was also due to appear at the Mareeba Childrens Court  today (Wednesday, July 30).
