Matildas soccer player Wini Heatley has switched clubs to Italian powerhouse AS Roma, and last night played centre-back in a 2-0 European Champion’s League victory.
Heatley, of Julatten, debuted for her club against Kazakhstan champions Aktobe in Prague last night.

The ball did not enter her half too much during the commanding win - Roma had 13 corners to none and 31 shots at goal to three in a dominant display.

Heatley moved to Roma in the European off season after spending three years at Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, where she played in three cup finals in three years.

In an interesting twist of fate, her old club is in the same European League division as Roma, so Heatley may soon have to face her old teammates.

“It feels like I’m leaving home again,” she stated when she left the club.
“Words can’t describe the love I have for this team, this club and this city.”

She may have to put that love to the back of her mind if she faces off against them down the track.
