An adventurer who set out from the Sunshine Coast in November with the intention of pushing a wheelbarrow all the way to Port Douglas has reached the halfway point.

Connor Russell told Newsport last week he is currently staying at the General Gordon Hotel in Mackay, where he is looking for work to help fund the rest of his journey.

“I am just over halfway at 1200km done,” Connor said.

“But it will be some time until I cross the finish line, unfortunately.”

Connor has been having many adventures on the way, posting photos of himself fishing in remote locations and pushing his baggage-filled barrow along lonesome beaches.

He is working as he goes - the last time Newsport caught up with him in March he was staying in Agnes Waters.

Connor has also set up a GoFundMe page to raise a bit of extra pocket money during the trip, with more than $1600 donated so far of his $3500 target.

He says he is “getting to Port Douglas, the old fashioned way” by pushing his wheelbarrow called “Mussel”.
