Local school awarded for innovative early learning program
AWARD RECOGNITION
Wonga Beach State School is making waves in education, earning recognition for its exceptional Early Years program at the 2025 Showcase Awards.
The 2025 Showcase Awards are a Queensland Government initiative that celebrates state schools across Queensland for outstanding programs that advance student achievement, wellbeing, engagement, and inclusion.
Wonga Beach State School received an award in the Starting Strong category, highlighting its work with children from Kindy to Year 2.
These early years form part of a broader pathway supporting local families from Playgroup and KindyLinQ right through to Year 6.
The school’s community-led approach brings early learning programs and primary teaching together, helping children make smoother transitions, stay engaged, and achieve attendance above the state average.
Principal Anita Cubit said the accolade reflects the power of teamwork.
“Our strength comes from working together. This award shows what a small, committed community can achieve,” she said.
