As Port Douglas heats up, so do Heatwave festival ticket sales
INCLUSIVE CELEBRATION
BUSINESS FEATURE
This summer, Port Douglas will host its newest event, the Heatwave LGBTQIA+ Festival, running from 13-15 February 2026.
Spanning three days, the festival will feature top DJs, iconic drag performers and a packed program of events across multiple Port Douglas venues.
It aims to promote inclusivity while delivering a welcome boost to local businesses and regional tourism during what is traditionally a quieter time of year.
Organisers report that more than half of all tickets have been sold, with around 80 per cent of purchases coming from interstate, particularly Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Festival founder and Event Director Andrew Dalbertanson said the strong early sales were a positive sign for both the event and the region.
“Ticket sales have been strong so far, and we’re seeing a large number of interstate guests,” he said.
“This is exactly what we were hoping for. It’s about bringing people together while supporting the region during one of its quietest times of the year.”
Mr Dalbertanson also acknowledged the strong backing from the local community and business sector, describing the level of support as “overwhelming”.
“The funds raised help cover key aspects of the festival such as lighting, security and performer fees,” he said.
“With businesses like The Tin Shed and Newsport stepping in as major sponsors, alongside resorts and venues across Port Douglas, we’re able to bring this event to life.”
While interstate demand has been strong, Mr Dalbertanson said he would love to see more local residents take part.
“We have such a close-knit and supportive LGBTQIA+ community here in Port Douglas,” he said.
“I’d encourage anyone who loves music and a good party to grab a ticket. It’s the perfect Christmas gift to yourself.”
Program
The three-day festival will feature a series of headline events and a standout lineup of internationally recognised DJs and performers across multiple Port Douglas venues.
Festivities will kick off on Friday, February 13, with Neon Nights at the Sugar Wharf from 5.30pm to 10.30pm.
The opening night will be headlined by DJ Dan Murphy, a well-known figure on Australia’s LGBTQIA+ scene who has collaborated with Club Broadway and performed for audiences around the world.
He will be joined by DJs Kate Monroe and Hayley Maree, both recognised for their work with Ministry of Sound and ARIA-acknowledged achievements, along with drag performances from icons Coco Jumbo and Penny Tration.
Saturday, February 14, will begin with a long lunch at Harrisons from 12pm to 3pm, featuring DJ sets and a drag queen performance.
The celebrations will continue into the evening with a sparkle party at the Court House Hotel, running from 8pm to 2am.
The festival will wrap up on Sunday, February 15, with a pool party at Oaks Resort from 12pm to 5pm, followed by a closing dinner at the resort from 7pm.
