Since opening its doors on Grant Street in July 2025, Cosmos Cocktail Lounge has been making waves in Port Douglas with a nightlife experience that’s anything but ordinary, and now the venue is shaking things up with exciting new offerings.

A new tapas menu and quirky signature “Bull’s Eye” cocktail spheres are giving locals and visitors even more reason to stop by. The spoon-shaped, flavourful shots, designed to be enjoyed between plates, have quickly become an Instagram favourite.

After six months of running the venue, owner Angela Whittaker said the journey so far has been both fast-paced and rewarding.

“It’s been incredible seeing people enjoy what we’ve created,” she said. “We’re always looking for ways to keep it fresh and fun for our guests.”

The idea for the cocktail spheres came from house mixologist Alex Karimni, who spotted the concept online and adapted it for Cosmos’ menu.

“They’re made from scratch daily and last just 48 hours,” Angela said, “so each one is a special treat.”

Fresh menu highlights

The refreshed tapas menu is crafted to complement the drinks and encourage sharing, with dishes ranging from kingfish sashimi crudo and truffle tartare to pork belly skewers, and plenty of gluten-free options.

Cosmos’ playful dart theme continues through the menu, with wagyu sliders, popcorn chicken, chorizo, and even olives arriving adorned with gold darts.

Recent additions to the venue include a curated wine rack with bottles handpicked to pair with drinks or dishes, and extended kitchen hours, open until 10.30pm Monday to Thursday, 11.30pm Friday and Saturday, and 9.30pm Sunday, perfect for late-night cravings.

On weekends, live DJ sets add to the vibrant atmosphere, while daily happy-hour from 3-5pm lets guests enjoy interactive darts for just $10 per person.

Cosmos is also available for private functions, from birthdays to work celebrations, offering full venue hire for cocktails, tapas, and darts.

“Seeing Cosmos become part of the Port Douglas community has been incredibly rewarding,” Angela said.

It’s also becoming a hit with families, with plenty of kids visiting alongside their parents over the school holidays.

“We just want people to come in, have fun, and enjoy something a little different.”
