Record number of young doctors a boost for Far North region

The Far North Queensland region last week welcomed a record number of new intern doctors.
The cohort of 68 graduates, who started their medical careers at the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, will be working across a variety of units including general medicine, surgery and emergency medicine in order to receive a level of diverse experience across areas such as acute and critical care and chronic condition health care.
“(A) big welcome to our incredible new junior doctor cohort in Far North Queensland,” a hospital spokesman stated.
“Our largest number ever.
“Most of our interns are homegrown stars, having grown up and studied medicine right here in Cairns and Townsville - true locals giving back to their communities.
“But we're also thrilled to have fresh talent joining us from far and wide... including as far away as Canada.”
