YOU SAID IT: Crocodile filmed off Four Mile Beach
LETTERS AND COMMENTS
Should I be scared of a crocodile in FNQ?!
Only tourists swim in FNQ.
Hey, surprise, a beautiful croc in its natural habitat.
See 'em every day nearly up here, they're cool.
Awesome to see these big guys in the wild. People who are bored by it need to try and rediscover their sense of wonder.
Yawn... it's male and 4m, but whatevs.
Are you missing a tinny?
Looks like a commercial tinny or dory from a mother boat.
That’s come off a trawler or a pro fisherman with that rego number.
Tallahassee Walker did your brother borrow someone's boat?
Pretty sure that’s Brandon Walker’s tinny?
Pretty sure it’s Old Mates, if not, it’s Old Mate’s mate.
Premier shopping strip in need of a little retail therapy
Maybe lots of retailers could make a co-op and get together to rent one larger space... this means cheaper rent all round plus extra eyes on your goods.
Perhaps some of the landlords could comment on here and tell us why they have increased rents by so much and would rather see their premises empty, and how they can afford for it to stay that way.
Owners need to be heavily taxed on unoccupied retail outlets... it degrades shopping precincts.
Rents need to be pushed down.
Rents need to be lowered dramatically for shops, offices and housing. I don’t know how people live with what they are paying in rent and food, electricity, cars, rego, insurance, kids, schools, sports, dance, gym. It just blows my mind.
I’m a shop owner in Victoria. High rent is a killer to small business. People need to support small business. Stop buying online. Walk in and talk to a real person in store. Give us a break landlords. An empty shop creates NO INCOME for you.
Need a public bus in Douglas Shire
Ben Cropp, Wonga Beach
Here in Mossman to Wonga to Daintree there are a lot of old retired people and no public transport to get to a hospital or doctor or supermarket or to Craiglie to catch a bus to Cairns Hospital, etc, unless one still has a drivers licence.
We cannot afford taxis.
Down south they have the 50c ride, we have no bus available to have the same.
My wife lost her licence because of dementure, I could lose mine anytime because of old age, and then what do we do? We are stuck.
We have Blue Care, which is limited for such trips, others do not yet have that.
So please can you do something about this problem that affects many people here who choose to retire to a quieter place in their final years.
You already have school buses that could do such runs between the two school runs and go from Daintree to Craiglie in the morning to link with a bus to Cairns, and then back to Craiglie to Daintree in the arvo after the school run, plus another two runs inbetween the two school runs for shorter shopping and doctors, etc, in Mossman.
That’s only four round trips.
