Port Douglas has once again drawn national attention as one of Queensland’s best beachside places to live, with luxury estate BeCHé Port Douglas featured in Real Estate Australia’s latest roundup.

The article, titled “Queensland’s best places to build by the beach in 2026”, cast a wide net across the state’s most desirable coastal areas, from South-East Queensland to Central Queensland, the Whitsundays and Mackay.
Under the Far North Queensland category, it was BeCHé (pronounced “beachy”) Port Douglas that represented the region as a boutique tropical contender.
Described as offering “a boutique coastal living experience near the pristine shores of Four Mile Beach,” the estate was praised for blending beach-style living with the natural beauty that defines the region.
“Set within one of Australia’s most iconic tropical destinations, the enclave blends beach-style living with proximity to the natural beauty that defines Port Douglas,” the article stated.
BeCHé is the latest project from Allaro Homes, a family-run company with more than 130 years of experience and a track record of delivering custom luxury homes across Far North Queensland.
Troy Cavallaro, CEO of Allaro Homes & Cavall Investments, said the recent national recognition was a welcome boost.
“The recognition reinforces Port Douglas' national standing as one of the top-ranked locations,” he said.
We’re up there with places like Burleigh Heads and other beautiful spots around the country.”
For Cavallaro, location is one of the estate’s greatest strengths.
“We’re right near Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resort & Spa, which I’d argue is one of the top resorts in Port Douglas,” he said.
“It’s a little tucked away, and that’s part of the appeal, you’re away from the bustle of Macrossan Street but still close to everything.
“I’d encourage visitors to drive by, head to Sea Temple for a cocktail by the pool, then take a walk or drive through BeCHé. Once you’re there, especially in the afternoon, it’s magic.”
Building on success
With strong regional roots and a reputation for craftsmanship, Allaro Homes has already delivered a number of custom luxury residences in Port Douglas, including the BAHA Villas on Davidson Street, completed last year.
BeCHé builds on that foundation, bringing a Mediterranean-inspired style to the local market.
Progress on site is evident, with two homes under construction, one now roofed, and a third set to begin mid-February.
Mature date palms have been planted, entry walls completed and the display suite opened by appointment, as the site continues to take shape.
Cavallaro also dismissed rumours the project had stalled.
“That’s definitely not the case,” he said. “Approvals take time, but with three homes underway soon, we’re pushing forward.”
