A woman in her 20s has been transported to Mossman Hospital after reportedly being bitten by a snake at Daintree Siesta Campgrounds in Diwan last night.

The woman was taken in a stable condition following the reported snake bite at about 8.30pm on Monday, February 23.

The Queensland Ambulance Service could not provide further details about the incident.

The wet season months of November-March are a particularly active time for the reptiles in the tropics, authorities warn.

More than 220 people attended four Far North Queensland hospitals with confirmed snakebites last year, including 26 at Mossman Hospital.

January had the highest number of presentations, followed by November and March, with December and February not far behind.
