Former AFL footy great Dustin Martin will play a one-off game for the Port Douglas Crocs on May 2 against South Cairns Cutters.
Crocs president Matty Laskey said it was a huge announcement.
“To have a player of that calibre pull on a Crocs guernsey is something truly special, and it will bring the community together and showcase our local football on a big stage,” he said.
Laskey said this will be Martin’s first official appearance since the three-time Richmond premiership player and Brownlow medallist retired in 2024.
The Saturday 2pm home game is expected to draw a strong crowd and shine a national spotlight on the Douglas Shire region.
Several fans spoken to by Newsport say they hope he has a better game than fellow Richmond great Trent Cochin, who made a one-off appearance for the club in 2024.
