A woman has been rescued during a “prolonged extrication” after spending up to two hours in an Emerald Creek Falls pool when she slipped from a walking trail at about 3.15pm on Saturday.
The woman, who was in her 30s, sustained minor injuries but did not need to be taken in an ambulance to hospital.
She was reportedly hiking with a friend when she slipped into one of the many pools at the popular tourism spot near Mareeba.
Emergency rescuers attended the scene and eventually helped the woman out of the water, according to the Queensland Ambulance Service.
“Emergency services assisted with a prolonged extrication,” a QAS spokesperson stated.
“The woman declined transport to hospital.”
