The Port Douglas Crocs women celebrated a gutsy win on Saturday.

The Port Douglas Crocs Senior Women have celebrated a win, coming from behind with a dominant last quarter do down Cairns City Lions by 11 points.

Played at Holloways Beach Sporting Complex, the Crocs women showed they meant business with the only goal in the first term to lead by 6 points at the first change.

But the momentum swung against them, the Lions putting themselves just a kick ahead at the main break, and holding a 3 point lead - 3.5 (23) to 2.8 (20) - coming into the decider.

But it was al Crocs in the last, putting on 2 goals, 3 points to a solitary Lions point as they Port Douglas women came over the top for the win, the final score: Lions 3.6 (24) to Crocs 4.11 (35).

Shelby Grinter and Hannah Hyland were among the goal scorers for the Crocs to deliver a win, and a birthday present, for coach Anthony Wilson.

A thumping 96 point win to the Crocs Senior men over Cairns City Lions has them atop the ladder after the first two rounds and primed for a contest against the third placed Centrals Bulldogs on Anzac Day at Crathern Park.

The Crocs were in control all day over the Lions, leading at every change, but it was a blitzing final term with 9 goals piled on that blew the score out after the Lions had kept in touch without ever looking a likely threat.

With 22 goals, 13 points on the scoreboard for the Crocs, including bags of five goals for Liam Bartels and four goals for Kye Chapple, of great note was that only three players for Crocs failed to trouble the score keeper.

Of course we are going to name them! Bad luck to Harvey Moore, Dan Davidson and Joshua Lea.

Lea though was among the very best on the ground for the Crocs, sharing the honours with Murphy Short, Shay Linke, Xavier Walker, Brett McKeown and Liam Bartles.

The final score was Port Douglas 22.13 (145) to Cairns City 7.7 (49).

In the Development League, Port Douglas ran out comfortable winners 15.14 (104) over Cairns City 2.4 (16) and also sit on top of the ladder after the two rounds.

Aiden Frankombe had a good day in front of the goals with 4 majors, with Jack Fetherby kicking 3.
