The Port Douglas Crocs Senior Men’s side shot clear at the top of the AFL Cairns ladder with a thumping 108 point win over Cairns Saints for the Pink In The Tropics day at Port Douglas on Saturday.

The win made for an even more special annual Pink Round for the Reef Raiders rugby union and Crocs AFL teams will be played this Saturday in Port Douglas.

The teams wore special pink guernseys for the Pink in the Tropics event, with fundraising throughout the day and two guernsey and jersey auctions held to help raise more money to assist women with breast cancer.

Pink in the Tropics president Deborah Kachel says money raised will go towards a care program and other support services for women who are going through breast cancer, as well as providing equipment for Mossman Hospital.

On the field, an eight goal second term, and six in the last quarter, saw the Crocs run out winners 22.11 (143) to 4.11 (35), Shay Linke bagging six to make it 19 this season, Kye Chapple with five goals (17) and Liam Bartels with 4 to go to 20 for the season and the leading Crocs goalkicker.

The Crocs seconds side didn’t fair as well, going down to the Saints 4.4 (28) to 12.8 (80), while the Croc’s women started the day off with a bang to beat Saints 6.13 (49) to 2.1 (13).

Shelby Grinter bagged 3 goals for the Crocs, with other goal scorers including Kiki Courtidis and Muireann Boyce.
