Club Tropical Resort has unveiled a stunning $2 million makeover, blending a chic day-club vibe with a new wellness area featuring a steam room, sauna, and plunge pools. To celebrate this next chapter, locals are being invited to try it first with a special discounted package.

This massive project, led by Daina and Daniel Keech, is a true milestone for the family-owned Star Resorts team.

Having managed the property as a tight-knit family effort for 10 years, this moment is the culmination of a decade-long dream.

The revamped pool area, BBQ sundeck, and upstairs leisure spaces have been completely rebuilt around a stunning “rainforest to reef” aesthetic.

Designed with a heavy wellness focus, the ground-level deck now features a heated pool with hydro fountains, an 18-degree cold plunge, a large steam room, a sauna, and convenient bathroom and shower facilities for late-departing guests.

The pool and wellness area is a visual masterpiece, dressed in modern furniture and striking tiles, all personally curated by Daina and her mother, co-owner Jenny Fulton.

A brand-new structural ramp, a long-held dream of Daina’s to optimise accessibility, cleverly doubles as a canopy for stylish cabana day-beds right beside the pool.

Moving upstairs, the “reef” themed BBQ deck offers perfect sunset views over the Coral Sea, styled with vibrant blue umbrellas.

Further up, a spacious “rainforest” leisure deck features lush plants, cozy sofas, and a highly versatile extendable long table designed for large family gatherings.

Not only did the leisure decks receive a major upgrade, but virtually all forty short-term stay rooms, ranging from studios to expansive three-bedroom apartments, were updated over the low season.

This massive effort was guided by Jenny Fulton, who donated her interior design expertise completely free of charge to collaborate with individual unit owners, whose combined investments made the upgrade possible.

To bring this vision to life, a large team of local contractors, suppliers, and tradespeople were brought together for the project.

Resort’s eccentric history

The makeover brings new life to a resort with a famous, eccentric history.

Built in 1998 as one of the first resorts in town after the Sheraton, the ideally positioned Macrossan Street property has long been a local favourite.

The landmark has long held a reputation for its eccentric history, with plenty of famous faces passing through during the tail-end of the town's glamorous, celebrity-fueled "Skase era" of the 1980s.

Adding to that colourful legacy, iconic Australian fashion designer and textile artist Linda Jackson was later commissioned to paint original artwork for the resort's custom fabric prints.

Daina says they still proudly hold many of these original paintings and plan to hang them across the property to honour that heritage.

Locals Weekend Wellness Package

Ahead of the official July 1 grand opening, the resort is extending an invitation to the community.

Throughout the months June, November, and December locals can book an exclusive “Weekend Wellness” package for $650.

Designed to maximise the weekend, it covers a two-night stay in a Tropical Studio (additional fees for upgraded rooms) with a convenient 5.00pm late Sunday checkout.

Guests will enjoy a bottle of sparkling wine, a $50 La Cucina voucher, and an amenity wellness welcome pack.

“This transformation has been a true labour of love for our family, and we couldn't have done it without the incredible support of our owners,” says Daina.

“Now, we just can't wait to welcome our local community in to experience it first, relax, and share in this exciting new chapter with us.”

The Locals Weekend Wellness Package is available for direct bookings by phone: +61 7 4099 5885, in person and bookable via clubtropicalresort.com.au.
