The Leukaemia Foundation Mossman Quilt and Craft Expo: Airing of the Quilts is on its way to Mossman across the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, June 27/28, in support of local Leukaemia patients and their families.

The popular annual event will be held at the Indoor Sports Centre, Front St, Mossman and feature up to 200 quilt and craft items.

Quilters and crafters from all over Far North Queensland have contributed to the event, with quilt pick up points based in Cairns, Atherton, Mareeba, Malanda and Mossman.

The event was first held in 2007. It has been held annually except for one year due to Covid.

While the designs and creations are up to the artist, with no set themes, every quilt is on display for the first time.

The Quilt and Craft Expo typically raises more than $12,000 each year.

“We raise money for Leukaemia patients and their families in the Douglas Shire to assist them in any way possible during their journey with Leukaemia,’’ said Katie Shepardson, Vice President Leukaemia Foundation Mossman District Branch.

Supporters of the 2026 event include: Kelly's Crane Hire, Mossman; Cairns Create It, Cairns; Cross Stitch Corner, Malanda; Mossman State High School; Plant nursery at Mowbray; Jenny Eldin and Jan Stroud.
