Way is now paved for the building of new Noah bridge

Work on a new $12m dual-lane Noah Creek Bridge is set to start after the temporary bypass was opened yesterday.
The completion of the elevated bypass, which is designed to stay above high-tide levels, now paves the way for construction of the bridge just south of Cape Tribulation.
Douglas Shire Council Mayor Lisa Scomazzon said the new bridge had already undergone a trial build off site to help streamline construction, so it should be in place before the end of the year.
“The project remains on track for completion in December,” she said.
The bridge is being funded through the Federal and State Government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
Federal Emergency Management Minister Kristy McBain said the completion of the bypass was an important step.
“We know how important reliable access is for communities recovering from disaster,” she said.
Daintree Rainforest locals will be relieved when the new bridge is open following years of lobbying for the completion of the project.
