YOU SAID IT! First tick of approval for new six-star resort
Letters and Comments

I’ve lost count of the number of “plans proposals and feasibility studies”. Get back to me when something is actually built.
Corey Seaton
Geoff I came to post the exact same thing! It reminds me of the repeated proposals for resorts at the block just before the Sheraton roundabout; I believe there is another proposal there too! Not to mention, Aquis, the water park in Smithfield, the Paradise Palms fiasco and Nova City in the Cairns region.
Robert Latham
It really is none of their business when all is said and done. They don’t own this world and I’m sure they all live in developed houses that at some stage was a vacant virgin block of land - hypocrites!
Kim Christensen
Won't make any difference to Port Douglas. We need things to go ahead there. Going to be real bad when Dougies goes. Be nowhere for backpackers to live. Town will die.
Bob Holland
Now wait for the few surviving DSSGers to put their objections in.
Kathleen Smith
Have you looked at the plans on the Douglas Shire submissions? Looks great from the top but front on it looks like a set of flats. So go figure, 6 stars.

Road issues... Gillies range, Kuranda range, Daintree and Cape Trib. Water problems north of Cairns, electricity problem north of Cairns, and telecommunications issues. Have the roads been fixed and reinforced for locals and tourists before this bridge??? How about the water, electricity, phones, internet... before rates went up. Things are being done slow, expensively and not in sequence a normal person would do it... perhaps clean the river ways/waterways to allow the water to flow properly and the bridges would work, including the Foxton.

Will be a big improvement when they’re done!
Wayne Branden
Just can't wait til the world's oldest continuously surviving rainforest is turned into suburbia. Like we don't have enough suburbs from Cairns to Melbourne and beyond already.
Silas Roberts
Need a walkway on this one, for joggers and pedestrians.
Kris Kupsch
Can’t wait to see it handle the next flood. Hope they are replanting the endemics they destroyed, such as the wonderful Noahdendron and Samadera that was growing beside the road and removed for this project. Noahdendron is only found around the bridge site. Only place on earth it grows. An ancient flowering plant, but hey, must make way for humans and their major milestones, egh.

Mcleod is no better. Sprinkle of rain and you are blocked off.
