YOU SAID IT! What’s next for Dickson Inlet?

It will put Port Douglas on the map as the go to place for mariners both local and international for maintenance and repairs on any boat or size. It will add a huge amount of money into the shire and local businesses. Marina maintenance precincts are a huge drawcard, you only have to look at Coomera and Manly for example and with us being coastal and our location to the FNQ waters it would attract masses of boaties and sailors to our location. It would make us an international stopping point on the map. And the financial injection to the area would be a life saver.

Do we really need it?
Jack Wyatt
Go for a walk around the marina see what you think. Any new marine facility is definitely needed.
Nat Terry
They are constantly taking boats to Cairns and back to slip. It's a hell of a lot of money that could stay in our local economy.
Derek Brown
Absolutely it will support our vessels and create jobs for locals instead of the work going to Cairns, Townsville and the Gold Coast
What does Native Title decision mean?
Brad Clarke
Nothing it’s only recognition they don’t have the right to own or control it.
Lisa Lopez
Mostly means the area is shut down and no longer accessible including walking tracks

Talk about a one way divisive move to make over 80% of coastal land Native Title. Next will come reparations and repatriation. We indigenous Anglo Australians can’t go there - look at Eyers Rock, Mt Warning all now untouchable. Native Title means lock it up throw away the key and call it management. An un-Australian grab for even more land for 3% of the Aboriginal population seems totally unfair to me.
