Douglas Shire artists now have a dedicated space to showcase their talents following Tuesday night’s official opening of a revamped pop-up gallery in the foyer of the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas. 

Acclaimed Douglas Shire painter, restaurateur, and gardener Rachael Boon launched the initiative with her vibrant acrylic-on-canvas works, which reflect the rich layers, textures, and life of Far North Queensland.

While the resort’s foyer previously featured artwork on casual easels, the upgraded space marks a renewed commitment to elevating regional talent, led by Director of Marketing Vincent Potage.

The new space will host a rotating schedule of local creatives, selecting a new artist every three months to ensure community talent stays front and center.

Rachael Boon was a natural fit to launch the series. Her featured collection draws direct inspiration from her home garden and the dynamic, ever-changing light along the Great Barrier Reef Drive, headlined by an original artwork created specifically for this inaugural exhibition.
