One of the top restaurants in Australia across the past two years has cemented its standing right here in Douglas Shire after another prestigious win.
Port Douglas modern Thai restaurant Jungle Fowl has been crowned one of Gourmet Traveller magazine’s Top 100 Restaurants in the country for the second year running.
This means the popular Wharf Street eatery has also been recognised by the top food magazine as one of the best 15 restaurants in Queensland - the only one north of the Sunshine Coast to receive the accolade.
Jungle Fowl co-owner Rachael Boon says she is “super proud” of the recognition.
“We are so lucky to be a part of this small community that has an abundance of food,” Ms Boon says.
“Just to have Jungle Fowl on the map for all of Australia to come and visit Port Douglas but then experience the other places as well.”
She says the next restaurant on the list is a three-day drive away in Noosa.
“It really does showcase our region,” she says.
“Queensland’s a big area and we’re covering the top, so, brilliant.”
