A man has died while snorkelling at Mackay Coral Cay on a Sailaway tour on Friday, October 30.

A Sailaway Port Douglas Spokesperson confirmed the news on Monday.

“At approximately 10:40am on Friday 30 October 2026, an incident occurred involving a guest who was snorkelling at Mackay Coral Cay. Despite efforts to assist, sadly the guest passed away,'' the spokesperson said.

"Our heartfelt condolences are with the guest’s partner and loved ones during this very difficult time.

"Sailaway Port Douglas liaised with emergency services to ensure our guests and crew received appropriate support.

"We are unable to provide any further comment.”

A Reef Safari tour was also in the area at the time of the death and tour guests told Newsport it had impacted their tour also.
