FAR North Queensland printing company Trinity Printers has been sold after 50 years of printing.

The business was snapped up by Cairns-based company Cardzilla. The Group is now the largest locally owned and operated printers in North Queensland.

Ron and Gail O’Shea have steered Trinity Printers through many different economic periods and technology changes, but are now looking forward to retirement.

Known throughout the industry for quality offset printing, their customers have ranged from local and state government departments to major mining companies and corporates.

“I was happy that the Cardzilla owners were able to purchase the business, keeping it locally owned and looking after the staff is very important to us,” Ron O’Shea said.

“I wouldn’t let it go to just anyone that I didn’t trust, but the owners of Cardzilla have the enthusiasm to take it to the next level”.

Cardzilla is co-owned by Andrew Nakovics and Steve Bates and has been operating for 20 years.

“It was a great opportunity that came along, allowing our business to expand and offer the customers of both companies digital printing, large format printing and now off-set printing, with the addition of embroidered clothing which Cardzilla currently does,” Bates said.

“We have now got every type of printing covered and being the largest locally owned printer north of Mackay, it’s important that we continue to grow stronger in order to keep jobs local and also build the local economy in the region.”

There are no plans to change the branding of Trinity Printers given the strong name and reputation it has developed over half a century.
